Ways to Give
POWER receives funding from various sources, including Allegheny County Department of Human Services, Bureau of Drug & Alcohol Services; Pennsylvania’s HealthChoices program; grants; and special events. On a case-by-case basis, health insurance companies provide funding and a sliding scale is used to determine fees for self-pay clients. Additional funding comes from private donors who support POWER’s mission.

United Way
If your employer participates in a United Way giving campaign, select Contributor Choice Code 3511 on your United Way donation form and encourage your co-workers to do the same!

Combined Federal Campaign
Federal employees may choose to give through this program. POWER’s CFC number is 85191.

Matching gifts
Many employers will match charitable gifts. If your employer offers this benefit, please ask your Human Resources department to mail us the appropriate forms.

Commemorative giving
Any donation can be made in honor of a special occasion or in memory of a loved one. When you make a commemorative gift, we will send a card to the individual or family acknowledging your thoughtful tribute. No dollar amount is disclosed.

Planned giving

In-kind gifts
Welcome bags
When women come to POWER, they often arrive with nothing. We give clients “welcome bags” to provide them with the staples they need. We deeply appreciate in-kind donations for our welcome bags. Items like toothpaste and toothbrushes; deodorant; lotion; and notebooks and journals are always needed.

Thriftique partnership
When you donate clothing or household goods to Thriftique on behalf of POWER, our clients are provided with vouchers to purchase clothing at the store. Drop-off hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, and Saturdays by appointment. Please call 412.271.0544 to make an appointment. Thriftique is located at 7400 ½ Church Street in Pittsburgh’s Swissvale neighborhood.
