| MAKE OUR HOUSE A HOME CAMPAIGN
POWER House, our residential treatment site in Swissvale, has been a true sanctuary and healing place since POWER opened its doors to women in recovery from addiction 17 years ago. When you consider that about 100 women a year each spend up to six months at the House for quality treatment and support services, it’s not hard to understand why this wonderful old building is in dire need of an upgrade!
We believe strongly that the environment, inside and out, plays an important role in providing the right setting for the recovery process to take root. The building that is now POWER House was built nearly 100 years ago as a convent. In its early years, the space housed nuns from what was then St. Anselm Parish; Word of God Parish now owns the house, which we rent from them. Because it began as housing for women, the building has lent itself beautifully to POWER’s gender-specialized work. But over the years, wear and tear have taken their toll, and while we have been able to make some small repairs and changes on our own, it is time to do more.
We hope that you will review the suggested list of items below and make a donation to help us make the house inviting and conducive to the hard work of recovery.
$50 will purchase five bed pillows
$100 will purchase paint and painting supplies

SERENITY ROOM OPENING
On Friday, February 15, the Serenity Room was opened for use by POWER clients at POWER House. The Serenity Room is a safe haven for women to deal with trauma and its impact on their addiction and recovery.
MERGER ANNOUNCEMENT!
The POWER Board of Directors is proud to announce our merger with Zoar NewDay, effective June 30, 5:00 p.m.
The process has been exciting and challenging and we promise to do our best to make the early days of transition as seamless as possible for all of our clients, staff and supporters in the community.
In addition to our four original programs serving women who are battling the disease of addiction, we have added a POWER NewDay, a partial hospitalization program, and POWER Reintegration, a program for women who are incarcerated or re-entering the community after incarceration. In all, POWER will operate a six-level continuum of care for women working to live clean and sober lives. While POWER has been helping approximately 1,500 women each year, that number will now approach 2,000, making POWER the largest gender-specific drug and alcohol treatment provider in Western Pennsylvania!
Thank you for your support of POWER and the courageous women we serve. Thank you for helping us keep our window of hope open and coming closer to our vision of a day when all women who struggle with addiction will embrace the journey and realize the promises of recovery, enhancing and strengthening relationships with children, family, and community.
